A Few Frequently Asked Questions ...

What to Wear?
We advise that you wear plain dark clothes, solid colours, no patterns and long sleeves. Also try to avoid whites unless it's under a jacket or shirt. This way the emphasis remains on your face, after all, its about you! If you like, bring along a few different pieces with interesting necklines that frame your face and we'll see what works best on you in front of the camera. Bring clothes that you would normally wear or feel comfortable in. Sometimes, your agent may require you to provide a couple of different looks. We're happy to advise and shoot a couple of different outfits for you. In this case, the only extra charge is the retouching fee per additional file chosen.

Will I need professional hair and make-up?
We generally don't include these services as the extra time involved is quite long and the final result is sometimes only subtly different to what we can do with computer retouching. However, there are a few basics to keep in mind.

• Guys, a light face powder can reduce imperfections and reduce face shine from oils in the skin.
  

• Girls,if you choose to do your own make-up, do it as if you were going to a barbecue to meet a friend that you haven't seen for a while.You want to look great, but don't over do it and if in doubt, less is always more! If you are after a complete new makeover, or have particular needs, we can arrange professional hair and makeup to really boost your image. Expect to pay around $100.00 for this service.
  
• We also strongly recommend that you get a haircut or trim the day before your shoot.

Do you use natural light or studio light?
Studio flash is very controllable, natural light is very pretty, and we have south facing panoramic windows overlooking the CBD. However, it's Melbourne and there's nothing natural about the weather! We use either or both types of light, depending on the circumstances, and each person is treated individually, to suit their face. Talk to us about your special needs.

Is digital the same quality as film?
No,it's even better! Digital photography is now the industry standard.Photographers are no longer limited by the restraints of a film budget,and we don't have to stop at frame # 36. We continue shooting long after that traditional roll of film would have ended. We then show you all of your shots on screen and by process of elimination, choose the best files for retouching.

Retouching, as in Airbrushing?
This is a wonderful, subtle process where laugh lines are softened, small blemishes (if any) are removed,and your eyes are sparkled! It's amazing what we can quickly do to really make your new image sing! You will have several 'hero' photos that are fantastic, but have very different expressions, so you can have the additional files retouched and included on your CD for only $195.00 each!

I hate having my photo taken, can you help me?
Andrew has over 15 years experience directing people to bring out the best int hem. By subtly coaching you from behind the camera, he can guarantee to capture your best smile or that look of quiet, professional confidence and integrity. You will see your images on screen as we take them. This boosts your confidence, your 'photophobia' disappears and your session becomes interactive and enjoyable!

How long does the session last?
Most of our sessions take around 90 minutes - two hours, which includes retouching your chosen 'hero' file, and burn your CD. Most people find this an interesting and interactive process, and you can enjoy a really great free cappuccino while you wait.
